Jessica Rance Woodwind Instrument Repairs, based in Devon, provides a specialised and individual service for musicians and collectors.

With an interest in both engineering & woodwind instruments, it seemed logical for Jessica to study the making and repairing of them. To pursue this interest, she joined the most prestigious course in the UK, at Newark Technical College in 1986

From Newark she went to work full time in a specialist woodwind shop, setting up new instruments, repairing customers instruments and preparing used instruments for sale.

In 1992 she set up her own workshop at home in Bedfordshire. This freedom allowed her to specialise in oboe and bassoon repairs, which, being the instruments she plays, provides the greatest challenges and rewards for her. With a husband who is a flute player and having made a clarinet, naturally the flute and clarinet feature highly in her work too. In 1999 they moved to Devon, and converted a blacksmith’s forge into a workshop.
